LRFP May Open House Presentation Boards
Last week, the Richmond School District held three LRFP Open Houses to inform the public about the potential impact of closure of schools. Please see the district site for more information regarding the May Open House (https://letstalksd38.ca/our-schools-our-students-our-future?tool=survey_t...). Lee had an excellent turnout at the Palmer Open House last Wednesday May 18th. Thank you to all families and staff that were able to take the time to attend any of the open houses.
The Lee Elementary presentation boards from the open house are now on display in the Great Hall across from the Staff room. If you have not already had the chance to do so, please take this opportunity to take a closer look at the boards and learn about the potential options proposed if Lee is selected to be closed. Please see the attached pdf PAC Post LRFP Open House for the Lee PAC response regarding options proposed on the presentation boards.
Many trustees were on hand at the open house, and they repeatedly urged parents to continue to provide feedback to them regarding the LRFP process. If you have any questions, comments or concerns, please contact any of the following individuals at the school district and in government:
Sherry Elwood, CEO & Superintendent of Schools – selwood@sd38.bc.caMark De Mello, Secretary-Treasurer – mdemello@sd38.bc.caAlice Wong, School Trustee - alwong@sd38.bc.caLinda Reid, MLA - linda.reid.MLA@leg.bc.ca or 604-775-0891 (Questions/concerns can be answered and/or forwarded to the Minister of Education)
Additional contact information for school trustees and other individuals involved with the LRFP process can be found on the district website: https://letstalksd38.ca/our-schools-our-students-our-future . We request that parents please copy us at Lee (bob_mann@shaw.ca) on any messages or communications you may have with representatives of the school district, trustees, government, etc., so that we may be aware of what is happening as it pertains to Walter Lee. Please take this opportunity to be heard. The deadline for providing input and feedback to the school board is June 20th .
A meeting with Alice Wong, School Trustee and liason to Lee, has been scheduled at the school gym for Wednesday June 15th at 7:00 pm. Alice Wong is one individual who will vote on the proposals prepared by the school district. She needs to understand that we strongly support Walter Lee and are concerned about it. More details regarding this meeting will be provided closer to that date.
