Proposing Nandos as a new vendor, $8.50 combo that includes a main and a choice of a side.  PAC would sell the combo for possibly $9.50.  Nando’s could start as a vendor for us effective April 2025.

RDPA Update (DG)

Last meeting was on Feb 4, Superintendent, Christopher Usih, presented the school district’s engagement to develop the Strategic Plan 2025 – 2030. This plan will guide decision making over the next 5 years
Parents were invited to do a survey, which is now closed.  Open house will be in April
and you can submit feedback through the website.
Update on transportation committee and 1311 tickets issued in 2024.
Next meeting is March 4, 2025.

Grade 7 Committee Formation Update

No update and no Grade 7 parents have contacted the PAC to join a committee.

Administrator’s Report (Alfred Chan)

Term 2 report cards are going home in April.
Next week starting wrap up on basketball season, tournament at McRoberts and McNair.
Cybersafe online session for family coming up on April 8.
Care & Kindness week this week looking at respect, calling it a Pink Shirt Day.
MDI student learning survey completed, survey closes in April.
Next week there will be 5 days of dance instruction for intermediate classes.
District info for PAC events, the school needs to communicate with PAC about after school PAC events. Approval would be required from the District rentals department.   Alfred to share the info with PAC on how to do the rental booking. Alfred needs to inquire with the District as to whether District needs to be advised of after school treat sales.
Snow & ice removal on school grounds: the custodial staff comes in the morning to clear a pathway at the front entrance, Alfred does the salting on pathways around the school. The four square and basketball court is nobody’s responsibility. School district dispatches a truck to spread the salt for the parking lot. Parents could assist with snow and ice removal, but of course this would take some coordinating via a group chat, etc.

Sports Day: tentatively scheduled for June 13, 2025.

Roundtable Discussion

Bullying / bringing in guest speaker:
KC reached out to several speakers located in other provinces with no response.  There are no local in person presentations that would be an option for the school.
To have an online presentation (Tad Milmine), would cost several hundreds of dollars.
KB to assist in looking for options.

Prowl-a-thon prizes:
KC will continue to reach out to local businesses and send them a letter requesting donations.  This letter will also be sent out to parents who can also contact businesses on behalf of the PAC.
We will also create a Facebook post to ask parents to assist with donation requests.
KB proposed we indicate on the letter that we are funding a particular item (i.e. technology/iPads), as then parents and businesses are more aware of what the fundraising is going towards.

Parking lot painting – no updates.

PAC Treat dates: after school treat day (popcorn, candies, freezies)
- Mar 7
- Apr 4 (?) and 17
- May 15
- Jun – TBA

Grant updates:
GAA seeking clarification with regards to the mission statement of the PAC, etc.

Have not heard back from the City of Richmond.
Golda in the process of applying for the Canada Post Grant, how much money should we request for? It is very open, school can use it for field trips, sport equipment.
KC suggested the need of sport equipment and helping with funding community events.
KC to share the grant application done for Fresh Slice Cares with GAA.
KC looking at a Walmart grant.

“PAC event treat/to be determined” was added as a line in the budget last year:
Discussion of what can the PAC can add to the school re: multicultural, diversity lessons, such as a presenter coming in, Example: Maple Man.

This will be discussed further.
