Moving into a Growth Mindset
During the latter part of the school year, and after the work we did looking at self-determination, our school focus has morphed into a broader scope that we (staff) were quite excited to learn more about ... Growth Mindset! We saw similarities in our work on self-determination and the ability to persevere when a task becomes challenging and extending this to changing one's mindset in order to grow one's mindset. Growth mindset is a way of thinking that allows you to put aside fear of failure and focus on learning. There needs to be a shift in one's thinking and approach to a problem or challenge. Self-determination is the ability to persevere, or a way of thinking and growth mindset also involves a new way of thinking. As we look ahead to the new school year, we are excited to investigate this further and continue to look at ways we can understand and support our young learners.
