Supporting Literacy Growth at Our School

At the start of the 2025/26 school year, we completed a reading assessment to better understand our students’ literacy skills. This assessment looked at two key areas:

  • Decoding – Can students read text and understand what it means?
  • Encoding – Can students clearly express their ideas and thoughts in writing?

The results show that all our students can read and share their ideas, but all students need more support to strengthen their decoding and encoding skills so they can become confident, proficient readers and writers.

This year, we are excited to work closely with district literacy consultants to enhance our teaching strategies. Our goal is to help every student grow as a reader, writer, thinker, and communicator.
